Powers Boothe Joins Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

"Malick(eth)?"
It doesn’t look like things will be getting any easier for Director Coulson. Marvel has revealed that Powers Boothe (Sin City, Nashville) will be joining Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in a recurring capacity as Gideon Malick, “a notorious man whose loyalties remain a mystery.” [caption id="attachment_75755" align="aligncenter" width="609"]Powers Boothe as Gideon Malick - The Avengers Powers Booth (center) as Gideon Malick in The Avengers. (Image via Empire.)[/caption] This wouldn’t be the first time Boothe has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however. He was previously seen in shadow as a member of the World Security Council in The Avengers and looks to be reprising his role to flesh out the character on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as confirmed by Screen Crush.  “Gideon is incredibly menacing,” said Head of Marvel Television/Executive Producer Jeph Loeb, “and in him we have a character that even the stone-cold Grant Ward would fear. Only someone of Powers’ caliber could deliver the type of ominous and powerful performance we needed.” Boothe joins new cast members Constance Zimmer and Matthew Willig as Lash, but given plans to introduce the Secret Warriors later this season (and the high likelihood of a tie-in with Captain America: Civil War), he likely won’t be the last addition we'll see for Season 3. Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays at 9:00 PM ET on ABC. Featured image via Rev. Ron's Movie Reviews.
