Preacher Series Coming to AMC

Everyone wants a comic book based television series lately. There are now Marvel and DC Comics-based shows on the CW, ABC and Netflix, and now AMC wants a piece of the pie. AMC has ordered to series an adaptation of Preacher, a 1990s comic by Garth Ennis and Steven Dillon. Seth Rogen will be executive producing the project with Evan Goldberg (This is the End). preacher-steve-dillon-banner   The story of Preacher follows the life of Rev. Jesse Custer (to be played by Agent Carter’s Dominic Cooper). Custer is a conflicted Texas minister who teams up with Genesis, a spiritual force that might be making him more mighty than Almighty, according to TVLine. The cast also includes Ruth Negga from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. who will be playing his gun-slinging ex-girlfriend, and Misfits’ Joseph Gilgun, who will be an alcohol-loving Irish vampire named Cassidy. Custer will be traveling across the country searching for answers from a disenfranchised God. Other cast members include Lucy Griffiths (True Blood) as Emily Woodrow and Ian Colletti (Rake) as Eugene Root aka Arseface.
