Release Screenshots for Arkham City

As if the excitement and buzz for Batman: Arkham City (released yesterday in North America and on Friday in Europe) wasn’t high enough, we’ve got a couple of screenshots to coincide with the game’s release.  Arkham City has been sweeping the board amongst the critics of the gaming world, and currently holds a breathtaking 95 out of 100 score on Metacritic, based on 37 reviews. Keep an eye out for our review of the game for the full story, but in the meantime (in case you haven’t yet picked it up), these screenshots should keep your juices flowing.

Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight was certainly scary, but this Joker looks about as deranged, and Mark Hamill’s undoubtedly fantastic voice-acting (based on his performance in Arkham Asylum) means that his Joker is sure to rule the screen every time he appears in Arkham City.

The sense of scale in the background of this shot looks astounding. I personally cannot wait to swoop and glide over this version of Gotham, since it’s something I’ve wanted to do ever since playing the original Batman game on the Game Boy.  It’s not too difficult to see why the critics have been raving about Arkham City. As mentioned above, our forthcoming review will give you the final verdict and check out our retro review of Arkham Asylum if you need reminding what was so good about the previous game!
