‘Rogue Nation’ Star Rebecca Ferguson Boards ‘The Girl on the Train’

"The breakout actress will be following up with a high-profile project"
Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation has been burning up the box office in the past few weeks, earning an impressive $375.4 million worldwide. The movie has earned some of the best reviews for the franchise (it currently has a 93% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes) and one of the reasons people are enjoying the latest installment is the standout performance by Swedish newcomer Rebecca Ferguson as a mysterious covert agent. Ferguson is striking while the iron is hot. According to Deadline, the actress is negotiating to star in The Girl On The Train, the Tate Taylor (The Help) directed adaptation of the Paula Hawkins novel.

Ferguson will play the role of Anna. There are three main female characters in the thriller, and the first role was landed by Emily Blunt (Into the Woods), who plays a recent divorcee who narrates the tale and spends her daily commute fantasizing about the seemingly perfect couple who live in a house that her train passes every day. One morning, she sees something shocking happen there and becomes entangled in the mystery that unfolds.

Ferguson most recently wrapped the Stephen Frears-directed Florence Foster Jenkins, opposite Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant.
