“S” Is For… Sequel

Superman: Earth One graphic novel written by J. Michael Straczynski and artwork by Shane Davis was the #1 bestseller in New York Times as a graphic novel. So there is no doubt that the creative team that made Superman’s modern origin story well also have a sequel! News was released to day that J. Michael Straczynski is starting to write the next adventure for the Man Of Steel.

While it’s still to early too talk about a, release date, artwork duties, and story DC Comics talked to co-publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee about Superman: Earth One.

“Shane has elevated his game with his artwork on EARTH ONE,” Lee said. “Every once in a while, you get the chance to see an artist really blossom with a project – where everything clicks and the pieces come together. This is it for him. Complemented by Inker Sandra Hope’s slick line and Colorist Barbara Ciardo’s haunting palette, Shane truly creates a unique, new world.”

“Joe created a Superman for the modern reader – a Clark Kent that’s conflicted and inexperienced but also focused and determined to embrace his destiny,” DiDio said. “We couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out.”

ith a ll of this interest ing news, DC  Comics also talked about J. Michael Straczynski dropping from his current run-on Wonder Woman and Superman. J. Michael Straczynski is making adjustments in his time to make a good graphic novel sequel, instead of a horrible sequel. Ending with Superman #707 and Wonder Woman #605, J. Michael Straczynski will be giving his story to talented writers and artist for both series. While Straczynski is leaving the series, his story arc will still continue without him. The Grounded story line in Superman will continue to unravel, and the dark mysteries in Wonder Woman’s life will soon be coming to a close, and soon enough the second installment of Superman: Earth One will be already completed.

On Wonder Woman writer Phil Hester will be joining the team, and Don Kramer will still be joining the Wonder Woman story line in #605. Co-artist Eduardo Pansica will be joining Don on the artwork of #605, and will also be an artist in #606. Don Kramer will return to full art duties on #607.

For the Superman writing duties writer, Chris Roberson from the mini-series Cinderella, will be taking over the Grounded story arc on #707, with artist Alan Goldman. On #708 of Superman, the regular artist, Eddy Barrows, will be helping Chris finish the final issue on the Grounded Story arc.
