SDCC 2016’s Fighting Game Announcements

"Blue Beetle! Juri! Maybe a new Marvel?"
Fresh off Evo 2016 last weekend, the fighting game announcements keep on coming a this year's San Diego Comic-Con. Besides lackluster stuff from the Bandai Namco panel concerning Soul Calibur, Capcom and Netherrealm had new characters to show off. Injustice 2 was a given to have a presence this weekend. Wonder Woman makes her return to Netherrealm's latest DC fighting game and I won't be surprised if a Gal Gadot skin is announced for DLC. The other character revealed at a panel yesterday is newcomer to the series Blue Beetle. Jaime Reyes finally gets to see what he's got in a fighting game with his tech. Ed Boon also announced that the GGPO netcode used in Mortal Kombat XL and a tournament mode will be implemented to Injustice 2 as well. Speaking of Mortal Kombat, he also said a MK character is likely since Scorpion was a success last game. I won't be surprised if it is Sub-Zero this time around. jri_07 On the Capcom front, Juri comes out this Tuesday afternoon for Street Fighter V. If you're able to get a taste of what she plays like in the story mode, she retains some of her Street Fighter IV tool set. From her fireballs, rushdown playstyle and a new anti-air special move, Juri is shaping up to be another fun one. Her Feng Shui Engine returns as her V-Trigger allowing her to cancel all her normals to deal big damage. Summer costumes for Cammy, Ibuki and Laura are also coming out in Tuesday. Meanwhile there is a Marvel games panel later today at SDCC. Many are hoping that a new Marvel vs. Capcom is in the works. That is still a long shot with all the hoops for Capcom to get the Marvel rights again. Dreams will continue to be dreams I guess. I'm predicting a new mobile Marvel game announcement instead since those games are doing alright money-wise. I still can't wait for the rest of the Injustice 2 roster to be announced with more newcomers than returning characters. Let's also see if Urien is still on track for an August release for Street Fighter V since Capcom knew they're saving the best for last.
