“Silent Hill 2” Begins Filming, First Image Revealed

Five years after the first Silent Hill creeped into theaters literally and figuratively, IGN reports that filming has begun on the sequel in Toronto, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. Further, a production image has already been released, featuring lead star Adelaide Clemens (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as Heather Mason, packing heat.

While no official synopsis has been released by the studio, the one making the rounds online is as follows: “Heather Mason and her father have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn't fully understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by horrific nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she's not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her forever."

Tthat’s the game Silent Hill 3 in a nutshell, not that that’s a bad thing. The third installment in the horror game franchise is widely regarded to be the series’ best game and has often been said to have the best story. Still, story is not really what you go to a “Silent Hill” movie for: you go for the atmosphere.

Additional information is scarce, but what is known is that Kit Harington (the upcoming Game of Thrones) has been cast in an undisclosed role while Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Sean Bean (the first Silent Hill, The Lord of the Rings) will be returning to the series as Henry Mason.

Anyone who saw the first film will remember Bean played Christopher Da Silva, husband to lead character Rose (Radha Mitchell). Whether or not Chris Da Silva and Henry Mason are the same character remains to be seen, depending on what director Michael J. Bassett (Solomon Kane) has in mind to try and get a film franchise off the ground.
