Sly Cooper Slips onto the Silver Screen

Sly Cooper plans to steal the show yet again, this time on the big screen in 2016.
Kevin Munroe, director of TMNT, has taken the reigns as director and screenwriter of the game to film adaptation, taking Sly back to his origins as he learns his family line of famous thieves. Whether the voice talent of the game will be present is still up in the air but David Wohl, producer on the film has stated, " We are exploring that now, The film will be a mix between those actors from the game, and various other talent who we can have fun bringing into the franchise." The full synopsis of the new feature film is as follows:
"Sly learns of his birth family’s secret legacy; that he comes from a long line of talented and international thieves. Endowed with this knowledge, Sly and his friends are catapulted into a global adventure as they race to reassemble pieces of an ancient book holding The Cooper Clan’s family secrets before it can fall into the hands of Clockwerk – an evil Russian metallic owl bent on ending the Cooper family line. From romantic Parisian backdrops to the lush mountains of China, gritty film noir meets bright, colorful graphic novels in this origin story of the world’s greatest thief-turned-hero."

The film is currently being developed by Rainmaker Entertainment as well as Blockade Entertainment, who also happen be working on Sony's other game to film title, Ratchet & Clank, set to release in 2015. Brad Foxhoven, another producer and CEO of Blockade Entertainment mentioned their close relationship with Sony and Sucker Punch to make sure the franchise stays true to its roots. Hollywood hasn't been too kind to many game franchises, but Sony sure is investing a lot into transitioning their exclusive franchises from game to film.
Not much else has been said about the film, but until we hear more, here is the very first trailer of Sly Cooper, set to release in 2016.
