Splinter Cell Trilogy Announced

Ubisoft's PR Coordinator Alex Monney has confirmed that for the last few months they have been working to bring the first three Splinter Cell titles to the PS3. This includes the original Splinter Cell (2002), Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (2004), and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (2005). The package will hold the title Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Trilogy and will feature HD graphics complemented by stereoscopic 3D. The rehashes will also feature some exiting and challenging trophies. The games will be available on Blu-Ray as the trilogy or individually downloadable through PSN. No pricing details, or special deals for Playstation Plus members, has been released and a launch date has not yet been specified.

Surprisingly, Ubisoft has stated that the games have been ported from the PC versions instead of the PS2 versions. This is due to the fact that the PC version included more content and detail, thus making them better candidates for adoption on the PS3. The Splinter Cell series is well-known in the games industry for its top-notch stealth and covert ops gameplay, which will remain intact for the remakes. We can expect the control scheme to be slightly tweaked for the DS3 controller, but the enhancements are likely to be subtle. The enhanced graphics will make for an ever richer experience and will allow fans and newcomers alike to enjoy these classics once again.
