The Star Trek franchise is one of the most enduring franchises around, with the J.J. Abrams directed movies make over $800 Million worldwide. Now sources for Badass Digest from Bad Robot Productions are reportedly in talks with writing duo Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz to scribe the Enterprise’s third (or thirteenth depending on how you look at it) outing.
Miller and Stentz are best known as the writers of two big superhero movies from 2011, Thor and X-Men: First Class. The duo also have plenty of TV credits, writing episodes of Andromeda and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. They have also written episodes of Fringe, another Bad Robot production.
The writers of previous two entries, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are staying on as producers and they are keen that Miller and Stentz take on the writing duties.
Badass Digest also report that insiders believe J.J. Abrams is on the verge of quitting Star Wars Episode VII due to production moving to Britain, a move he was against. But Lucasfilm has sent a statement to IGN to dismiss the rumor.
The USS Enterprise’s next adventure is currently pencilled for a 2016 release date.
