Supergirl and The Flash Crossover Rumored for Next Year

"Another Superman surrogate?"
It seems that Kal-El (albeit a teenage one) won’t be the only DC hero making his presence known on Supergirl later this season. [caption id="attachment_77513" align="aligncenter" width="601"]The Flash - Supergirl Promo Shoot (Image cropped from Nerdist.)[/caption] Bleeding Cool reports that Kara Zor-El and the Flash may be sharing some screen time - but only if the series gets its “back nine” episodes commissioned (to bring the season order up to 22). Apparently, CBS believes Supergirl will be needing help on the ratings side of things, which isn’t surprising considering its “at less than 50 percent of the premiere rating within five weeks.” The site mentions that Flash’s appearance may play into a storyline involving 100,000 Kryptionians freed by Braniac from the bottled city of Kandor. Taking into account Supergirl’s budget and where Kara is in her development as a hero, it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing an adaptation of this story, rather than a direct retelling. However, depending on how long it takes Kara to deal with her current Kryptonian problem (Ft. General Astra), Supergirl might be biting off more than it can chew. At the same time, if it means resetting the series and giving Kara a compelling conflict that we haven’t really seen before, it may give her an opportunity to become more defined, especially if the series continues refusing to give us a solid relationship (in the present!) between Supergirl and her cousin. Supergirl airs Mondays at 8/7 CT. Featured image via ScreenRant.
