Syfy Announces Projects in Development at Upfront Event

Syfy held their upfront event, and in addition to discussing previously announced series, they let loose some more information about other scripted series currently in development at the network.

It was revealed that a Booster Gold series, based on the DC Comics character, remains in active development despite no new news on the project since its reveal back in November 2011. Further, it was announced that a potential “long-form” version of The Eyes of the Dragon, based on Stephen King’s 80’s fantasy novel, could be in the works. Additionally, Syfy revealed that an adaptation of Grave Sight, the first book in The Harper Connelly Mysteries book series from True Blood creator Charlaine Harris, is in the works. Work is also underway on a TV version of the Matt Damon film The Adjustment Bureau, based on the Phillip K. Dick short story Adjustment Team

Following the phenomenal ratings success of HBO’s True Blood and Game of Thrones, it comes as no surprise that Syfy is moving down the fantasy route with some of its new programming. It remains unclear when any of these shows can expect to be seen on air, but with the final season of Eureka now underway, gaps in Syfy’s scheduling are soon to appear.
