Glee – Dream On

I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from this weeks Glee. I was hoping for a bit more Jane Lynch/Shue rivalry going on but that storyline seems to have taken a back-seat lately. Which is both good and bad, mainly bad. Anything featuring Jane Lynch is amazing but it’s always nice to show-off some new story-lines.

Such as Artie and Tina’s story. They’ve been together for a while but the writers never dove too deep into what they were doing. Apparently, Artie has been wanting to be a dancer. Which is scientifically impossible due to his paralysis. Tina thinks otherwise.

108 Things I’ll Miss About Lost

108 things I’ll miss/ things I loved/ remaining thoughts about Lost:

1. Maybe this will be repeated, one way or another in this list, it was nice to have a show that made the audience look for more. It was a difficult show all the way.
2. Hurley. Jorge Garcia has that kind of best friend look to him that is truly endearing.
3. Having a show that pulled off time travel in multiple ways, multiple times.
4. Ben Linus. I just remember when he first came on and thinking, “Jesus, that guy is slimy.” I wanted him dead. As always:
5. That this show rarely gave viewers what they wanted, and we were better for it.
6. The actors. Not to sound shallow, but so many of them were really good looking. Evangeline Lily and  Emilie de Ravin for the guys, Josh Holloway for the ladies…
7. Mr. Eko. Yeah, he’s been gone for 3 seasons, but off all the ones who didn’t make it, I think I miss him the most.
8. Having my head hurt when thinking about the show. That’s a good thing.
9. Daniel Faraday. I have always loved Jeremy Davies; loved having a physicist interested in time travel as a character on a major network show.
10. Speaking of Faraday, one of my favorite episodes: “The Constant.” One of those, “My god what a great effin episode!” that Lost was capable of delivering 3 times a season.

Supernatural – Swan Song

Sometimes understated is the way to go.  I choose to wait a few days to write this review and re-watch the program a few times.  It is funny how ones prospective changes.  I was a little disappointed at first with the direction this supposed original Finale for the Supernatural series went.  On reflection what else was suppose to happen.  In a way things have come full circle.  Sam is in Hell or is he? Bobby is still hunting things that go bump in the night.  Castiel is back in Heaven and maybe everything is right with the world at least at this moment.  And Dean, well Dean has returned to his once and only love Lisa to fulfill a promise he made to his brother despite his feelings otherwise.

The Office – The Chump

It was nice to see more of Toby and Creed.  These two characters have the misfortune of being placed in the center of dozens of other characters who get more lines and screen-time dedicated to them.  It’s unfortunate, because Creed delivers the best lines of every single episode, while Toby’s sad-sack attitude gets more and more hilarious with time.  The writers made the mistake of pushing these characters to the back and giving them barely any lines.  Instead, most of us had to suffer from horrible Meredith plots, which usually either consist of her getting naked (gross) or her getting obnoxiously drunk (lame).  The supporting cast on “The Office” is still one of the best on TV (Stanley, Kevin, Oscar, Daryll and Gabe all provide some consistently funny lines), but it would be even better if they injected a little dose of Creed and Toby into the mix.  Hearing Creed yell, “He don’t give an F about nothing!” was the highlight of my night, and hopefully we see more of Creed in the future.

Flashforward – Negotiation

We might as well address the elephant in the room before getting wrapped up in the episode review. Announced officially last week, Flashforward has been cancelled. ABC has decided that the 80’s remake of alien/lizard people, invasion show V, is better value for money and so yet another perfectly good drama goes into the network graveyard.

Lost – Across the Sea

I’m always willing to give a show the benefit of the doubt.  I’ve been doing this for six years with Lost, even through the rough patches I assumed that the writers would provide us loyal fans with a somewhat clear direction in which the show was going to move.  Lost has never been a show that’s been easy to predict, but it’s nice to know that there is a purpose to everything we’re watching.  I’ve felt comfortable with everything Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof have done with the show: the alternate universe, the smoke monster inhabiting Locke’s body, and any other ridiculous things that have pushed the show to the brink of science fiction.  When it’s done right, it’s entertaining, albeit a bit confusing.  However, last night’s episode of Lost, “Across The Sea,” took a story that should have been interesting to the nth degree and misused its many opportunities to answer some questions and give us an hour’s worth of great back-story on a couple of Lost’s most confusing characters.  I was still glued to the screen, but I could feel my attention span slipping a little, something that rarely happens on Lost.

V – Fruition

Last week we saw the weakest installment of the series and my review was appropriately scathing. Will tonight’s episode claw it’s way back from mediocrity, or has the damage already been done? In short, it’s better, much better…
