The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and 4 set for 2016 and 2018 release dates

Last week we reported that a sequel for Man of Steel has been announced a sequel just before the release date. Columbia have taken the idea of announcing sequels a step further by announcing The Amazing Spider-man 3 and The Amazing Spider-man 4 for June 10, 2016 and May 4, 2018 release dates.

Deadline broke the story with Jeff Blake, Chairman of Sony Worldwide Marketing and Distribution quoted saying “Spider-Man is our most important, most successful, and most beloved franchise, so we’re thrilled that we are in a position to lock in these prime release dates over the next five years.”

The reboot of the Spider-man franchise was controversial for some but it was still a financial success, earning over $752 Million worldwide and it is a movie that has its fans. Columbia certainly wants to continue their lucrative franchise and it would stop Spider-man teaming up with The Avengers any time in the near future and prevent Marvel Studios regaining the rights.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is currently filming in New York at the moment, with Marc Webb directing and starring the likes of Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Shailene Woodley, Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti. It is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2014 in the USA and April 18, 2014 in the UK.
