Last year Threadless, who’s famous for making limited edition printed shirts that are submitted by the users of the site, started a line of Comic On Tee’s. The goal was to use the shirts as a panel of a story and to have different artists create one writers vision. They continue that this year with writer Brian Azzarello and artists Lee Bermejo, Dave Johnson, and Eduardo Risso creating a series of shirts. Artists and shirt creators of the site can also participate as one contestant will be chosen to have their work included in the series. So when’s the big reveal? Friday night at c2e2… might just see you there.
Here’s the full deets from Threadless:
Threadless, Chicago’s beloved international online community-based t-shirt company, has partnered with four comic artist icons in collaboration for their second series of the Comics-On Tees line. Curated by Jill Thompson with artwork across a series of shirts by Lee Bermejo, Dave Johnson, and Eduardo Risso, will follow a storyline written by Brian Azzarello and will be sold exclusively through Threadless either individually or as a set. Threadless will offer a sneak peek of the second series of Comic-On Tees at their booth at this year’s Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2). The complete line of tees will be revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con 2011.
The Comics-On Tees were created in 2010 as an effort to continue Threadless’s mission to inspire awesomeness as well as support their artist community. Threadless launched the Comics-On Tees line to continue to empower artists to get their work out in new ways by translating a comic book onto a series of tees. In conjunction with their Comics-On Tees line, Threadless will also be running a “Threadless Loves” challenge, asking their community to create a design based on the theme of the Comics-On Tees line – Noir. The grand prize for the chosen design will be the chance to design an issue of Comics-On Tees from the script by prominent comic writer Brian Azzarello that will be presented alongside this year’s tees by the featured comic artists. The sneak peek of the second “Comics-On Tees” series will be showcased at Threadless’s booth number 749.
