Three directors vie to helm “Fantastic Four” reboot

Film directors David Yates, Joe Carnahan, and James McTeigue are in the running to helm the upcoming Fantatsic Four reboot. According to Empire, Fox is also actively searching for actors to join the cast.

So, which of these three directors is best cut out for the job? Well, Yates is easily the most high profile, having directed Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and the two-part finale Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. His works tends to be visually striking, especially with "Harry Potter." Carnahan directed The A-Team, this year’s perfect escapist flick. McTeigue is well remembered for the cult classic V for Vendetta which starred Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman, but he also directed the Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman flop The Invastion and the critically mauled Ninja Assassin.

Stylistically, Carnahan seems to be the best fit of these three men. Although Yates is the most recognizable, his dark style may not be the perfect fit for “Fantastic Four," but maybe that's precisely what Fox wants considering the first attempt was much more light-hearted and family-geared.

Despite having one good film behind him, McTeigue’s resume is small and not exactly admirable. If the goal is to still stay light-hearted, Carnahan could ensure that Fantastic Four is a fun superhero movie.
