TNT Orders ‘The Last Ship’ Pilot

TNT has given a pilot order to Michael Bay’s The Last Ship.

The Last Ship was originally part of TNT’s development slate in May and has now been given the go ahead. The potential series, to be executive produced by the Transformers director, is based on William Brinkley’s 1988 post-apocalyptic novel of the same name. The Last Ship follows the crew of a naval destroyer who are the only survivors after a global catastrophe killed off the earth’s population.

TNT’s head of programming Michael Wright said: “The book The Last Ship is a gripping page-turner that has all the makings of a terrific television drama, including a great premise, memorable characters, intense situations and heart-racing action. “We look forward to working with Michael Bay and The Last Ship‘s outstanding production team.”

The order marks the next in a series of moves that TNT has taken to bolster its original programming since the success of Falling Skies, which recently got a pick up for a third season.
