Trailer Round-Up – June 4th, 2016

Trailer Round-Up is a brief look at some of the latest movie trailers and teasers. Check them out below. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, directed by Zack Snyder and written by David S. Goyer and Chris Terrio, is the follow-up to 2013's Man of Steel. With the world still reeling from the devastating Battle of Metropolis, Bruce Wayne, Gotham's own Dark Knight, takes it upon himself to take on Superman for the greater good. While the two heroes are locked in a deadly struggle, a bigger threat emerges, one that puts mankind in greater danger than ever before. Dawn of Justice opened to negative reviews and performed well below the box office expectations of Warner Bros. for what was meant to be the launchpad to their own version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Ultimate Edition of the movie will offer 31 minutes of new footage for a total runtime of 181 minutes and the trailer showcases some of the new scenes. It's doubtful that any amount of new footage can resolve the many narrative and pacing problems of Dawn of Justice, and the trailer does not make a strong case for it at all. It still looks like the same movie, only longer. The theatrical and extended cuts of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be available digitally on June 28th and on home media on July 19th. Marauders Written by Michael Cody and Chris Sivertson and directed by Steven C. Miller, Marauders follows a team of FBI agents played by Christopher Meloni, Adrian Grenier and Dave Bautista as they investigate a string of high-profile bank heists linked to the owner of the banks, played by Bruce Willis. Lionsgate Premiere's Marauders looks like a generic, predictable action thriller with nothing new or interesting to offer. Bruce Willis appears to be mumbling his way through his scenes with zero interest. It's possible it might have a few decent action scenes, but it hardly looks like they'd be worth it. Marauders will open in theaters and On Demand July 1, 2016. Monster Trucks Monster Trucks, directed by Chris Wedge and starring Lucas Till, Jane Levy, Holt McCallany, Barry Pepper, Tucker Albrizzi, Danny Glover, Amy Ryan, Rob Lowe, Frank Whaley and Thomas Lennon is about strange, never before seen creatures that can hide in trucks and manipulate them from within. Tripp, a high-school senior with his own truck built from scraps, ends up befriending one of the creatures in this sci-fi adventure by Paramount Pictures. It's an incredibly silly premise that from the looks of the trailer, Monster Trucks intends to play completely straight. It's hard to tell if that will make or break the movie yet. The CGI on the monsters looks unconvincing, but with the stunt team behind the Fast and the Furious involved on the production, this could end up being a pretty dumb fun kind of movie. Monster Trucks is set to release in January 2017.
