At its annual investor conference earlier this week, Hasbro confirmed that Transformers: War for Cybertron 2 is currently in development, with the new title is tentatively scheduled for a 2012 release.
Mark Blecher, SVP and General Manager of Digital Media & Gaming, was extremely satisfied with the response to the first War for Cybertron.
“This is the most highly-rated, critical success of any game that’s had the Hasbro brand yet and we’re looking forward to a sequel in 2012,” Bleacher bragged.
While there is no official word yet, it is assumed that High Moon Studios, the developer behind the first Transformers game, will also helm the sequel.
While War for Cybertron 2 is at the forefront of the Hasbro game lineup for now, it is by no means the only Transformers game that will be hitting PCs and consoles. Transformers: Dark of the Moon will be released in 2011 to coincide with the release of the next Transformers movie. Also, NetDragon is hard at work developing a MMO based on the franchise, set to release in 2012.
