Transparent Renewed for Season Four

"The hit Amazon series goes for four. "
Amazon announced that it has greenlit a fourth season of its acclaimed series Transparent in advance of the show’s third season premiere. This news comes as little surprise given all of the awards Transparent has accumulated since its 2014 debut, including consecutive Golden Globes for Best Television Series and the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series last year. All of the show’s principals, including Transparent creator/showrunner Jill Soloway and Emmy Award winner Jeffrey Tambor, will return for seasons three and four. Soloway expressed her gratefulness for being able to make the stories she wants to tell. transparent-season-2 "Amazon’s explosive freedom and revolutionary thinking has given birth to this show," she said. "It’s so much more than TV to us, it’s our version of the most ambitious streaming art we can conjure. We’re having the time of our lives sharing season two for the awards season hoopla, and editing and finishing up season three for a fall release. This news of an order for season four is so so sweet. The Pfeffermans have many more stories to tell and we can’t wait to keep making them." For the uninitiated, Transparent is a dramedy that centers on a Los Angeles family, the Pfeffermans, whose patriarch Mort (Tambor) comes out late in life as a transgender woman named Maura. This discovery elicits different reactions from the members of Maura’s family as each comes to terms with their father’s identity. The primary characters in the series are Maura’s ex-wife Shelly (Judith Light) and their children Sarah (Amy Landecker), Josh (Jay Duplass) and Ali (Gaby Hoffman). Transparent has been a groundbreaking series on two fronts: not only was it the first television show to feature a transgender protagonist and to explore transgender issues in a meaningful way, it was also the first Amazon series to win a major industry award. The show will likely continue its buzzworthy status with the recent announcement that Caitlyn Jenner will appear in the show’s upcoming third season. Amazon Prime subscribers can catch season four of Transparent in 2017.
