True Blood Renewed for a Seventh Season

True Blood has been renewed for a seventh season. Sookie Stackhouse will be attracting vampires, werewolves, shifters, and countless other fantasy creatures for yet another season set to air in summer 2014. The vampire drama has remained one of the most successful original shows for HBO, with a loyal and dedicated fan base. Though the series’ quality has suffered since its first season, the series continues to garner strong ratings. This Sunday’s episode attracted an audience of 4.5 million viewers, its largest audience this season. While the fifth season of the show was practically universally panned, by critics and fans alike, it seems that the show is making significant strides in terms of quality and has been able to win back some viewers. After going through some behind the scenes shifts and changes after Alan Ball stepped out of the show runner position and finally settling with Brian Buckner, this is certainly favorable and welcome news for the cast and crew.

Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming states, “True Blood remains a signature show for HBO, and a true phenomenon with our viewers. Thanks to Brian Buckner and his talented team, the show continues to be a thrill ride like nothing else on TV.”
