Jon Stewart And Stephen Colbert Extend Comedy Central Contracts
By: Ashley Chittock | Jul 25, 2012 Highly successful satirists Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert's shows will continue to air on Comedy Central for the near future. Stewart's The Daily Show has been extended until summer 2015, whilst The Colbert Report will remain on the channel until the end of 2014. The deals came off the back of continually strong ratings and a new lease of life for The Daily Show after it started getting regular weeknight airings in Britain via Comedy Central Extra. The deal follows ratings increases and the beginning of their "Indecision 2012" presidential election coverage. The Daily Show cleaned up in this year's Emmy nominations and has already won nine consecutive Emmy awards, whilst Colbert's satirical attempt to raise awareness of anonymous political donors, "Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow," raised over $1 million.
