Nintendo Direct Announces Handful of New Wii U Titles
By: Kyle Enz | Jan 23, 2013Wii U users can rejoice today. Nintendo Direct announced a handful of new titles this morning, a surprise HD remake, and a handful of titles that should be enough to tide over the hardcore Nintendo fan out there whom is sitting on the system right now with nothing to play.
While it was only mentioned lightly that a new Zelda game is in development, which should come to no one's surprise, an HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker was announced this morning. Featuring completly overhauled HD graphics and full gamepad support, you can expect to play this beautiful HD version of Wind Waker.
Nintendo also announced that a new game is coming from the team who worked on the Mario Galaxy series, so we can except it to be something like that, a new title in the Mario Kart franchise, Super Smash Bros., and a game from the Wii Party team, simply titled Wii U Party. In a complete weird move, Atlus's Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem are getting a mash up game, simply titled: Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. New trailers for Bayonetta 2 and The Wonderful 101 by Platinum Games were also shown in today's Direct video.
The most exciting announcement has to be the development of a new Yoshi game, being developed by the team behind Kirby's Epic Yarn. I'll admit that I never got around to playing Kirby's Epic Yarn, but this Yoshi game excites me as I was a big fan of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island on the SNES.

For the hardcore RPG fan, Monolith studios announced a new, as of yet untitled RPG in the same vein as Xenoblade Chronicles. While some pretty footage was shown, the trailer ends with simply just a red X. I expect more info on this at E3.
Finally rounding out all of this big Nintendo news, the announcement of the Virtual Console making its return. You can expect to download some great old NES, SNES, and GB games stating this Spring with the Wii U Spring update.
Expect more to be shown on all of these titles at E3 2013. If you missed this morning's Nintendo Direct video in its enitrety, it is available to watch below.
