Warner Brothers Hires Writer for “Sherlock Holmes 3”

Despite Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows still a couple months away, Deadline reports that Warner Bros. is already planning to make “Sherlock Holmes 3.” There is a lot of positive buzz towards the highly anticipated sequel and Drew Pearce has been hired to script the follow-up.

Pearce is an emerging writer, currently co-writing Iron Man 3 with Shane Black, and he did some writing for Guillermo del Toro’s current project Pacific Rim. Robert Downey Jr. may possibly have helped him land this gig.

Based on the Arthur Conan Doyle novels and short stories, the original 2009 movie directed by Guy Ritchie was a big hit, making nearly $525 million worldwide. The Downey Jr. and Jude Law-led series does seem like a promising money maker for Warner Bros. in the wake of "Harry Potter's" end.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows will hit theaters on Dec. 16.
