Red Dead Redemption Nabs Game of the Year at VGAs

Rockstar San Diego’s open-world western, Red Dead Redemption, won top honors at Saturday night’s Video Game Awards, which aired on Spike TV.

It was far from a clean sweep for the game, though, as the only other awards it won that night were for music, one for “Best Original Score” and another for “Best Song,” which was given in recognition of the track “Far Away” by Jose Gonzalez. Red Dead Redemption was also nominated for Studio of the Year (Rockstar San Diego), Character of the Year (John Marston), Best PS3 Game, Best Action/Adventure Game, Best Graphics and Best Performance by a Human Male (Rob Weithoff as John Marston).

Guillermo del Toro Project is “Insane”

At Saturday’s VGAs, film maker Guillermo del Toro revealed the name of his mystery game – and not much else.

Titled “Insane,” the game is being published by THQ and developed by Volition, the studio behind the Saint’s Row series, Red Faction: Guerilla and its upcoming sequel, Red Faction: Armageddon. The trailer accompanying the announcement mainly displayed the game’s title, as well as a release date 2013.

Nail’d (X360) Review

When I received my copy of Nail’d in the mail I had no expectations for the game, partially because I had no idea what type of game it was. Before I ripped open the packaging I expected some new extreme carpentry simulator or perhaps even an innuendo laced romp similar to the Leisure Suit Larry series. Prototype 2 May Be Coming

While officially only a rumor at the moment, it appears that a sequel to last years Prototype may be in the works. A new trailer that has surfaced at murderyourmaker.com seems to foreshadow that we may have not seen the last of Alex Mercer. It is highly likely that all questions will be answered at the Spike TV Video Game Awards on December 11th. Until then, we only have a very shorter teaser clip, but the fact that it includes a man in a hooded sweatshirt and creatures similar to those from the first game is a good indication of what may be coming. Either way, here is the clip so you can judge for yourself.

Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom (X360) Review

Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom makes one very clear point across its dozen hours of gameplay – it really really wants to be a Team Ico game. The timing is right since that studio’s latest game, The Last Guardian, is not coming out for at least another year, and as a multi-platform game Majin also hits the Xbox 360, which is devoid of entries in the heartstring-plucking, A.I. companion genre.
