‘Zombieland’ Scribes Writing Hasbro a Micronauts Movie

In 1974, the action figure line Micronauts was introduced to the world by Japan’s Takara, but it was shut down in 1980. Just two years ago, Hasbro teamed up with Takara to revamp the line, and now the toy franchise will head to the silver screen.

Deadline Hollywood relays that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who penned Ruben Fleischer’s popular comedy Zombieland, will write a script based on the toy line to be produced by J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot. Paramount will release the feature as the studio bought the film rights to Micronauts just recently; the studio has a long relationship with the game and toy manufacturer.

After the success of Zombieland, Reese and Wernick have headed for more mainstream work, writing the script for Paramount?Hasbro collaboration G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation, the Disney film Cowboy Ninja Viking, and the X-Men Origins: Wolverine offshoot Deadpool.
