Amazon Announces Premiere Dates for Shows

Amazon has announced that its hit series Transparent will be returning with its second season on December 4, 2015. The series, which has garnered critical acclaim and scored the streaming site 11 Emmy nominations, follows the transition of Mort Pfefferman into Maura (portrayed by Emmy nominee Jeffrey Tambor), and the struggles she and her family face as she begins to navigate her new identity. The series, which also stars Gabby Hoffman, Judith Light, Jay Duplass, and Amy Landecker, has already been renewed for a third season and is Tambor is considered the favorite to win the Best Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy award in next month's ceremony. As with the first season, the second season will consist of 10 half hour episodes.

Amazon also announced this week that its highly anticipated adaptation of Philip K. Dick's The Man in the High Castle will premiere its first season on November 20, 2015. The show's pilot, which was the most watched pilot in Amazon history, was initially released on January 15 of this year and garnered wide critical praise (my take on the pilot can be found here). The series will continue the theme of Dick's novel (what America might look like had the Axis powers won World War II), although a large portion of the novel's story was covered in the pilot. The show's first season will consist of 13 episodes.
