Anthony Hopkins to Play Methuselah in ‘Noah’

Darren Aronofsky has worked with high-profile actors in Ellen Burstyn, Hugh Jackman, and Natalie Portman, but his next feature Noah promises to be his most star-studded effort. With big names like Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, and Jennifer Connelly already on board, Aronofsky adds another major star to his cast.

The director revealed on Twitter today that Academy Award-winning actor Sir Anthony Hopkins will star in the upcoming Bible-based epic. The Black Swan director didn’t overtly say which part he’d take, but a #methuselahlives hashtag suggests Methuselah, Noah’s grandfather and the man who had the longest lifespan ever, according to the Bible.

Hopkins will also star in Red 2 alongside Bruce Willis and Dame Helen Mirren. There’s no word yet on whether or not Aronofsky regular Stanley B. Herman will appear as Uncle Hank, but Noah is currently slated to hit theaters on March 28, 2014.
