Brad Bird Heading Back to ‘1952’ for Disney

Finally assured that he can direct real people just as well as digital ones, Disney has recruited The Incredibles and Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol director Brad Bird to direct a film entitled 1952.

1952 is a new tent pole project from the house of mouse, co-written by former Lost showrunner Damon Lindelof, along with Jeff Jensen (who may or may not be the same Jeff Jensen who covered Lost reviews for Entertainment Weekly). Fittingly, the project is shrouded in mystery, with few details about the movie itself beyond the title. We do know that Disney has big multi-platform plans for the project, and will begin its production sometime next year, with Lindelof staying on-board to produce.

Lindelof has had his hands on some big pictures of late, having co-written Ridley Scott’s upcoming Prometheus, as well as the Star Trek sequel with Lost creator J. J. Abrams. Deadline notes that Bird’s own specifically dated passion project, 1906, which details the disastrous San Francisco earthquake of that year, may have to (amusingly) be put on hold for 1952.

Based on cursory research (read: Wikipedia), 1952 could be about a range of events, but Hollywoods oddsmakers have made  the wave of UFO sightings on the west coast during the summer of the titular year the heavy favorite.
