Cate Blanchett Set to Star in HBO Film

Cate Blanchett is set to appear in a new project from HBO films. HBO is closing a deal with Julie Delpy, who will write the script based on the memoir Cancer Vixen: A True Story, written by Marisa Acocella Marchetto. Delpy already has some screenwriting credits to her name and is currently enjoying critical acclaim due to her work in Before Midnight, which she also co-wrote with Ethan Hawke and Richard Linklater, the director of the film.  Her other co-writing credits include Before Sunset, the film that came before Before Midnight in the series, as well as 2 Days In Paris, in which she starred with Adam Goldberg.

Julie Delpy and Cate Blanchett have been involved in several exemplary acting performances, appearing in Before Midnight and Blue Jasmine respectively. Blanchett, the Australian actress, rose to fame after playing Galadriel in the Lord of the Rings films, and she has appeared in a number of films since then, winning in an Oscar for her role in The Aviator. In this upcoming HBO film, Blanchett will play a magazine cartoonist who appears in publications such as The New Yorker and Glamour. She seems to have the typical Manhattan lifestyle and is about to get married, when she is forced to reexamine her life after being diagnosed with breast cancer. The remaining cast is unknown and as far as the release date of the film, stay tuned for more details.
