By now, most people have probably seen the impressive photo tweeted by Parks and Recreation star Chris Pratt, showing off his new buff physique. When news of the photo broke last week, the most common reaction (after expressing awe over the amazing physical transformation) was to question how this new development would be addressed once Parks and Rec returns for its sixth season this fall.
Pratt, who portrays the dim but loveable Andy Dwyer on the comedy, is currently working on the Mavel superhero film Guardians of the Galaxy, and will still be sporting his new and improved physique once Parks and Rec begins shooting its new season at the end of the month. As Andy is known for being a bit on the schlubby side (one of the fifth season’s storylines was about getting Andy in shape to pass his police physical), Pratt’s new body will mark a huge change for the character.
However, showrunner Mike Schur says the Parks and Rec premiere will address the newly in shape Andy - just not in a way people might expect.
"There is a joke that I wrote in the premiere that I think we'll probably shoot that is a little tiny acknowledgement or nod to the fact that he looks very different to the way he normally looks. I don't think beyond a little joke about it that we'll end up doing anything significant. We're not going to suddenly say that Andy became a fitness nut because that doesn't ring true,” Schur told TV Guide magazine.
