Dark Souls Developer From Software Acquired by Kadokawa Games

From Software, the developer most notably known for Dark Souls have been acquired by Japanese company Kadokawa. From Software have also made Armored Core and are on a high right now with the successful release of Dark Souls II. Kadokawa are mostly known for publishing magazines and manga but also deal with games, including many successful Japanese games such as Killer is Dead and Demon Gaze.

Famitsu have reported that Kadokawa have purchased 80% of From Software from their previous owner, Trans Comos. This purchase makes perfect sense for Kadokawa, as they look to not only continue their success in Japan but also broaden their appeal. Dark Souls has proven to be a success worldwide and looks to be the main reason for this purchase and could be the direction that the company want to focus on going forward.
