With the success of The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum and United 93 behind him, Paul Greengrass could do anything he wanted. He has turned his eye to the Iraq War with this fictional take on the hunt for Weapons of Mass Destruction after the downfall of Saddam Hussein with Matt Damon again in the leading role. As a director who courts controversy, Greengrass bring out his personal politics in this action thriller.

It tells of the last days of author Leo Tolstoy (Plummer) who wants to donate his estate to the Russian people, but his wife (Mirren) wants the property to go to their children in this old-fashioned melodrama.
