Shutter Island (DVD and Blu-ray)

What’s the Deal?

After Martin Scorsese finally won his long overdue Oscar, he decided to adapt Dennis Lehane’s novel Shutter Island. His novels Mystic River and Gone Baby Gone have been made into successful films, so obviously good source material. Set in the 1954, U.S. marshals Teddy Daniels (Leonardo Di Caprio) and Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo) are assigned to investigate the disappearance of an escaped mental facility patient on Shutter Island. But the two soon discover that this was not a simple case at all. There was some early Oscar buzz around this film but the release date was pushed back, prevent it from receiving an nominations. Yet Shutter Island has become Scorsese’s most financially successful film.

Eisenheim quickly becomes the focus of attention of Chief Inspector Uhl (Paul Giamatti) in this tale of love and treachery in the Austro-Hungarian court.
