Evil Dead Series Adds Lucy Lawless

The new Starz series Ash vs. Evil Dead has added a new cast member to the fold. Lucy Lawless, who recently appeared on Parks and Recreation and Spartacus, will be joining her former Xena: Warrior Princess co-star Bruce Campbell for the 10-episode series. 494_1lucy_lawless_film_noir Lawless joins a cast that also includes Ray Santiago (Pablo Simon Bolivar), Dana DeLorenzo (Kelly Maxwell) and Jill Marie Jones (Amanda Fisher), and will be playing Ruby, who will be at odds with Campbell's Ash. The series will focus on Ash, who has shirked his duties in fighting the terrors of the Evil Dead since his last screen appearance. However, as is so often the case, the emergence of a Deadite plague will force Ash to confront his demons - both real and personal. The series will be produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, the masterminds behind both Xena and Spartacus. Raimi will direct the show's pilot as well. Each of the episodes will be a half hour and no release date has been announced for the series.
