Fables and The Walking Dead Video Games Inbound

Steve Allison, SVP of marketing for Telltale Games shares the exciting news in the announcement of an exclusive worldwide publishing agreement with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to develop videogames for the comic-book series Fables and an exclusive worldwide agreement to develop and publish a series of videogames based on the AMC cable network’s zombie hit “The Walking Dead.” It’s also working with Universal Pictures on “Back to the Future” and “Jurassic Park” games. With these new blockbuster titles coming soon, Allison said the goal is to produce a title that hits one million digital downloads, and thinks “The Walking Dead” could become a $20 million to $30 million franchise if all goes well.

Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead series, feels that "Telltale Games are a great choice for bringing The Walking Dead to life as interactive entertainment. They care as much as [he does] about the story and characters while seamlessly weaving that into the games they build." Robert continued his praise for the company by stating that anyone who knows him knows that he's ecstatic "to work with the same people putting out the coolest Jurassic Park game ever."

All this comes with no surprise about The Walking Dead, the public has this uncontrolble love for the product since the show emerged. As for Fables, that is pretty shocking. The book does hold a slew of posibalites for almost any type of interactive naravtive. But it just doesn't "scream" make me into a video game.
But with Talltell's history, Monkey Island, Sam & Max and others, this could work. This multi-year deal will see The Walking Dead videogame infect the PC, Mac, console, handheld, mobile devices and even social gaming media by the end of 2011.
