HBO Announces Fall Premiere Dates

HBO has announced the premiere dates for its three upcoming fall shows, The Newsroom, Getting On, and The Comeback. The Newsroom, the cable news-set series from Aaron Sorkin and starring Jeff Daniels, will premiere its third and final season on November 9, at 9/8c. The series, which has suffered from mixed critical reviews and up-and-down viewership numbers, announced its third season would be its last earlier this summer, following a great deal of speculation that Sorkin wanted to simply end the series following its second season.  The Newsroom marked Sorkin's first return to television following the disappointment of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. The Newsroom - One Step Too Many: Jerry Lets His Emotions Fly As Sarin Gas Story Heats Up Following The Newsroom at 10/9c will be The Comeback. Airing for a single season in 2005, the series, which stars Lisa Kudrow as Valerie Cherish, an actor looking to revitalize her career, has been resurrected for an eight episode second season. Capping off the night will be Getting On at 10:30/9:30c. The comedy, which takes place in the geriatric wing of a hospital, was adapted from a British series of the same name. It will begin its second season run on November 9.
