HBO's Boardwalk Empire has been renewed for a fifth season. The period drama, set in the 1920’s Prohibition era, airs on Sunday nights. It has averaged 7.5 million viewers this season. There haven't been many specifics leaked about season five, but it is set to air next September, 2014, on HBO.
“Thanks to Terry Winter, Martin Scorsese, Tim Van Patten, Howard Korder, and their stellar team, ‘Boardwalk Empire’ remains in a class by itself,” said HBO programming president Michael Lombardo. “I look forward to another electrifying season of this impeccably crafted series.”
