HBO Shares Game of Thrones Season 6 Teasers on Twitter

"Which house are you?"
It’s no surprise that television shows are now turning to social media to prompt its programming more and more often. Recently HBO decided to promote the sixth season of Game of Thrones by asking fans on Twitter to pledge their allegiance to the show’s various houses. Fans were encouraged to use the hashtags, #HouseStark, #HouseLannister or #HouseTargaryen and also tag the official Game of Thrones Twitter account (@GameofThrones). Anyone who did so got a response with a short teaser trailer based on the house they choose. This is a new and clever way to get fans excited about new season of Game of Thrones, which premieres on April 24. It is interesting to see how social media is coming into play with television viewing. It was recently announced that Nielsen ratings will now be taking Twitter and Facebook chatter into consideration when generating ratings. This could have a huge affect on the television marketing industry. Check out the teasers below. Which house are you routing for next season? What do you think of this type of marketing?
