Joaquin Phoenix in final talks to become ‘Doctor Strange’

Doctor Strange is the next major Marvel property to get a cinematic adaptation and an actor is required to play the Sorcerer Supreme. A few days ago it was believed that Boardwalk Empire actor Jack Huston was in line for the role. But sources close to Collider have revealed that there was no truth in the rumor and Joaquin Phoenix is in final talks for the role. Phoenix has long been rumored for the role and it seems likely that Marvel is going to get their man. Phoenix is one of the most celebrated actors of his generation and has been more nominated for three Academy Awards for his roles in Gladiator, Walk the Line and The Master. Phoenix was rumored last year to be in line to play Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. But he is also a man who embarked on a rap career for an elaborate plank. doctor-strange Doctor Strange is one of Marvel's more out-there properties. The title character Dr. Stephen Strange is a skilled neurosurgeon who loses the feeling is hands and ends up becoming the Sorcerer Supreme, protector Earth from magical and mystical threats. His onscreen appears so far have included the 1978 TV movie Dr. Strange, a 2007 direct-to-DVD animated movie and an appearance in Spider-Man: The Animated Series. His existence was mentioned in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Sinister director Scott Derrickson is set to helm Doctor Strange and it is set for a July 8, 2016 release.
