‘Jurassic World’s’ Colin Trevorrow May Direct ‘Star Wars: Episode IX
Writer/director Colin Trevorrow has had a meteoric rise as a filmmaker, making the critically acclaimed sci-fi dramedy
Safety Not Graduated and his first blockbuster
Jurassic World has already grossed $1.4 Billion worldwide. Trevorrow is not returning for the
Jurassic World sequel and
Heroic Hollywood now reports he has found his next gig,
Star Wars: Episode IX.
Heroic Hollywood's Editor-In-Chief Umberto Gonzalez confirmed the news with colleagues at
Slash Films and
Hitfix and it is suspected that Trevorrow will be revealed at
Star Wars' panel at Comic-Con later today.
The
Star Wars series has already gained some big name directors for the series, J.J. Abrams has directed
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens and
Looper's Rian Johnson is set to direct
Star War Episode VIII.
Monsters and
Godzilla's Gareth Edwards is directing the Boba Fett spin-off
Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One and
The Lego Movie duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have recently been signed up to direct a Hans Solo spin-off.
Jurassic World received a mix critical reception: some critics seeing it as the best movie in the series since the
first movie and other finding it to be a shallow rehash of
Jurassic Park. Despite this, the movie has been a crowd pleaser and the action and special effects were of the highest order. Trevorrow was
linked to direct Star Wars: Episode VII before J.J. Abrams was hired.
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens will hit theaters later this year on December 18 and
Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One and
Star Wars: Episode VIII are set to be released in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
