Katee Sackhoff Lands “Riddick” Sequel Lead

To those who say "frak" in everyday life, we have good news and "eh" news. The good news is that Katee Sackhoff of Battlestar Galactica fame keeps getting work. Rough news is that her next project will be the female lead in the next "Riddick" film.

Deadline has it that Sackhoff (who played Starbuck on BSG) will play a "Nordic mercenary" called Dahl, who apparently is tracking Riddick.

This news hits as production for the "Riddick" sequel starts back up after financial issues caused the project to shut down momentarily. Vin Diesel is set to return to the role of Riddick, which he originated in the 2000 film Pitch Black. Little is known about the intended sequel, other than Diesel going on record that it should have an R-rating. The second film in the series received largely negative reviews, but performed well enough by box-office receipts and DVD sales to warrant a sequel, not to mention subsequent releases in the animation and video game fields.

Now for a PA service announcement: If you have never watched the revisionary series of Battlestar Galactica, and thus do not know who Katee Sackhoff is, please go to the nearest mirror, say "shame!" and get your hands on the DVDs.
