Laurence Fishburne to Return to Hannibal Despite New Series
When the news broke this spring that Laurence Fishburne, who currently stars on
Hannibal as Jack Crawford, was joining the cast of the new ABC comedy
Black-ish there was some serious wringing of hands that Jack might not be a part of the third season of
Hannibal. And when
Hannibal ended its second season with nearly every major character on the brink of death, it seemed to be a sign that Fishburne would be indeed moving on from the NBC drama. But rest assuredÂ
Hannibal fans, Jack Crawford will be back for at least some of season three- in some capacity.
At the recent ABC Upfront presentation (the annual summer event- which also has a winter counterpart- wherein all the major networks and cable outlets tout their new and returning programs), Fishburne announced that he would be doing double duty this fall, appearing in both
Hannibal and
Black-ish.

"I'm not going to do a full season ofÂ
Hannibal this year, and I'm not going to do a full season of
Black-ish which will keep me free enough for both, to have fun and to contribute as best I can," Fishburne told reporters. "It's not a problem. It works out just fine."
So, it looks like we haven't seen the last of Jack Crawford. Although, whether or not he will be reappearing alive and unscathed is still up in the air.
