Legendary Director Mike Nichols Passes Away at Age 83

Winning awards is not an easy business in any field. It takes many years of hard work and dedication. Sure, winning top awards is hard. Winning top awards in various mediums feels as if it would be harder, which makes sense when you consider how rare an occurrence that is. One individual who has achieved such success is none other than the one and only Mike Nichols, director of classic films like The Graduate (1967), Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966) and Working Girl (1988). MikeNichols__120530205508 ABC News announced the passing of the legendary film and theatre director, who  was also an actor, producer and a comedian. Winner of the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony), Nichols had an impressive career, which spanned more than six decades. He transitioned seamlessly between television to film to theatre and back working with some of the biggest names ever including frequent collaborator Meryl Streep, Robin Williams, Elizabeth Taylor, Tom Hanks and Harrison Ford among others. Nichols continues to be admired by many in film, on Broadway, and in television for his brilliant mind and his cleverness. He leaves behind his wife, the well-known ABC News anchor Diane Sawyer, three children and four grandchildren.
