Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks Joins Showtime’s Roadies

I guess Mad Men really is coming to an end, as Showtime has announced that Mad Men star Christina Hendricks will be joining the cast of the network's upcoming comedy Roadies. ChristinaHendricksCannesPhotoCall2014 Roadies will follow the tour of a successful rock band, looking at what goes on on-stage as well as behind the scenes. Hendricks, who has spent the last eight years playing Joan on AMC's much acclaimed series, will be taking the role of Shelli, the production manager of the series' central band, who is "married to her job" but also incredibly good at what she does. Joining Hendricks on the series will be film star Luke Wilson, who will be portraying Bill, the tour manager of the band. The series will be written, directed, and produced by Cameron Crowe (who also wrote and directed the similarly themed Almost Famous, which focused on the semi-autobiographical experience of writing a Rolling Stone piece on a successful rock band while following the band on tour), with Winnie Holzman and J.J. Abrams also executive producing. Joining Hendricks and Wilson in the case will be Oscar nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes, Peter Cambor, and Rafe Spall. The series will shoot its pilot in early 2015 in Vancouver.
