Mary Elizabeth Winstead cast in Fargo

Mary Elizabeth Winstead will be joining Fargo's third season, according to Variety. Winstead will play a character named Nikki Swango, who is a “crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge playing." Swango will also be "focused and determined to always stay one step ahead of her competitors." Viewers might recognize Winstead from CBS’s summer series BrainDead, and the films 10 Cloverfield Lane and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Other new cast members for the next season of Fargo include Ewan McGregor, who will play two roles: Emmit and Ray Stussy, and Carrie Coon (The Leftovers), who has been cast in the role of Gloria Burgle, the chief of police in Eden Valley. Fargo is part of FX's stable of an anthology series, but unlike the Ryan Murphy-led American Horror Story and American Crime Story, the series does not use the same actors in different roles every season. The second season of the series received 18 Emmy nominations, so it will be interesting to see if the third season can build on the acclaim both the first and second seasons received. Fargo will return to FX for season three in 2017.
