McG is the frontrunner to direct the “Ouija” movie

The mind reeled slightly when word came that the Hasbro board game Battleship was coming to the big screen. If you thought the buck stopped there in the Hasbro-to-film crossover, guess again. Deadline is reporting that the next Hasbro-based project will be a supernatural action film based on their game (wait for it…) Ouija. Not only is Ouija in the early stages of production, Deadline also states that director McG (Terminator Salvation, Charlie’s Angels) is the frontrunner to helm the project.

Specific plot details remain unknown. What is known is that the project is being written by Tron: Legacy scribes Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis and produced by Hasbro's Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir. Platinum Dunes is also attached to produce, bringing Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form onboard (so you know there will be an explosion and a boat chase).

While McG doesn’t necessarily have the best reputation as a director, he does have experience with the genre Ouija claims to be, specifically as an executive producer for the long running T.V. series Supernatural. In that mindset, McG as the director of Ouija doesn’t really come as a surprise, but it doesn’t help the “B-movie” go away. Platinum Dunes and it’s rather dreadful record in the horror genre also do not lift spirits, but when your basis is a tabletop board game that preys on people's inability to completely immobilize their arms, let’s be honest: you were already rolling your eyes.
