Welcome to Rumor Has It, Player Affinity’s weekly roundup of highly buzzed-about movie rumors circulating throughout Tinseltown. On this week’s docket, we have rumors about The Avengers and “The Twilight Saga.”
The news was initially broken as if Paramount and Platinum Dunes had indefinitely suspended their reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles — or Ninja Turtles as it’s to be called — but those who were hoping Michael Bay‘s plans for their beloved green heroes would die aren’t quite in luck.
This weekend at the box office it was again the return of the lovable toones that held off vehicles from two bankable leads, as Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted handily defeated Rock of Ages and That’s My Boy.
Whiteley will star in George Miller’s upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road, the long-gestating fourth film in the “Mad Max” franchise once led by Mel Gibson and now starring Bane himself, Tom Hardy.
Director Paul W.S. Anderson (of the first and fourth entries in the series) looks to rectify his missteps with Resident Evil: Retribution, the fifth outing of Alice and co. that looks to take the zombie pandemic set off by the Umbrella Corporation and go worldwide in this latest trailer.
Hopefully, those attending Rock of Ages don’t mind Glee-style bastardizations of their beloved rock anthems because that’s the film’s modus operandi. Its numbers are impressively staged, and some of the performers have decent enough voices, but they aren’t rock performances, which means this stage-to-screen adaptation doesn’t have very much soul.
