Neversoft Absorbed into Infinity Ward

Sad news for old school skateboarding and guitar fans. It seems Neversoft, the studio most well known for developing the incredibly successful Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk games is no more. The company, which has been owned by Activision since 1999 will be absorbed into Infinity Ward to help work on the Call of Duty Games. Neversoft have been making games for 20 years and will be sadly missed in the industry.

Of course this news isn't as sad as a studio closing with many people losing their jobs, hopefully all of the talented people at Neversoft will continue to make great games at Infinity Ward. But fans that have grown up with Neversoft games will definitely be sad to see them gone. Recently they helped Infinity Ward on development of Call of Duty: Ghosts and Activision must have been pleased with the result as they will now continue to work on the franchise going forward. Their next CoD game is scheduled for release in 2016.

I personally will miss Neversoft as someone who grew up playing both the Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero franchises. Thanks for the memories and I wish you all the best for all the members of the team that are effected by this change.
