Turn off the Lights

Official Trailer for Skyrim DLC: Dawnguard

Bethesda has released the first trailer for their upcoming DLC, Dawnguard. Yes, Dawnguard is finally coming, and we don't have to speculate any longer about its content
One minute and forty four seconds is all Bethesda needs to deliver the goods. Remember the Skyrim Gamejam a couple of months back? That event were a bunch of developers were given the chance to try out a load of new ideas for Skyrim? A lot of those initial ideas have made it in.

Vampires and werewolves seem to be the "in" thing at the moment, and it looks like there's going to be a hell of a lot of them in Dawnguard. Forget the charms of Robert Pattison for one second. Imagine the Creeper out of Jeepers Creepers but times the intensity of it by a thousand and you're kind of getting close. A simple x10 sneak attack looks like it wouldn't even leave a scratch on these guys. These new creatures look a lot nastier than your average vampire in Skyrim. Oh, and they also look a lot angier in the dark. The trailer seems to reveal a focus on the balance between light/dark surroundings.

Dawnguard itself seems to be the name of clan dedicated to hunting these vampires. Presumably, this clan is lycian. The trailer also reveals a character attacking whilst riding a mount, hopefully confirming rumours that players will be able to attack whilst riding their horses in an upcoming patch. And what's the best weapon to use to try and take down vampires? Enter the addition of crossbows.

Vampires, werewolves, crossbows, attacking from mounts and hopefully a lot more other surprises. With such a focus being on vampires, perhaps we'll see an additional skill set for vampires, levelling up your vampire skills just as you would with any other class. Dawnguard will be released in Summer for the Xbox360 at a cost of 1600mp, gaining a 30 day exclusivity period over PC and PS3. You can view the trailer here:
